Languages

Here, you will find blog posts, challenges, resources, and other useful material for studying the languages that I speak/read, or am learning (English, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese, Classical Chinese, Spanish, Italian, Latin, French).

English

From the quaint, picturesque villages of the English countryside, to the iconic skyscrapers of New York, explore the English speaking world with these articles.

French

You don't have to claim to have read the whole of Les Misérables to be able to enjoy a croissant and a coffee on Boulevard Saint-Michel. Welcome to the language that gave us chic (and not just the word!)

Cantonese

Cantonese tends to be overshadowed by Mandarin, but with over 60 million native speakers, it's one of the most important languages in the world today.

About Me

My name is Neil and I have been teaching English professionally for almost 20 years, the last ten of which at my language school.

Apart from a diploma in teaching English as a foreign language (Cert Tesol), I have a BA in modern and Classical Chinese. I also speak Spanish, Italian, and French, and read Latin.

Besides continuing my daily studies of these languages, I have also set myself a language goal of one new language a year. I’m looking forward to starting Japanese or German on the 1st January 2021.
